"I studied Ikebana in the Sogetsu school. I create arrangements for the pure enjoyment of it, and for the contemplative beauty that these natural sculptures bring to our environments. Ikebana symbolizes harmony and the oneness of all living things. This is an art form that has informed my painting by adding a heightened awareness of three-dimensional form, line, and space. These ikebana still lives combine two art forms with which I resonate."
